How to Build a TikTok Platform

As everyone knows TikTok has taken over the social media world. Users are becoming famous through the social media app and people are constantly scrolling through videos. For a business, TikTok can be very helpful to gain a bigger audience and reach different customers. However, the future of TikTok is uncertain due to legislation aiming to ban the app, but this could take years to be put into effect. Whatever happens with TikTok, we may still have another 9-12 months before TikTok's fate is determined. In the meantime, get on, play with it, but don't ignore other social media platforms. Here are some tips on how to grow your TikTok platform.

1. Follow the trends

There are always things that are trending on TikTok whether that be dances, lip-syncing, popular sounds, and much more. It is important to follow these trends and use them in your own videos. Doing what is trending will help your TikToks show up on different people’s feeds.

2. Use hashtags

When you type a # or click the “# Hashtags” button on TikTok and start typing the words you want, different potential hashtags will appear along with how many posts each has. Using these hashtags, especially popular ones, will help you get more views.

3. Engage with others

It is important to respond to comments and interact with your followers and viewers. This will remind them to go back to your videos. If there are questions, you can reply to them through TikTok videos or just in the comments. You can also interact with other people’s posts so they see your account.

4. Bio

Your bio should describe your business so that when people click on your account they can understand what your brand is. You should also include a link to your website or other social media platforms for easy access. To add a website in your bio, it is required that you are registered as a business account. To do this you can click on “website” when you edit your profile and that will take you to the prompts to register your business. If you have over 1,000 followers, it should be simple to change to a business account, and if not, you may need to register your business.

5. Collabs

Collaborating with other TikTok influencers or businesses can be very useful. It will allow their followers to be introduced to your brand and promote your products or services.

6. Time to post

The time of day that you post can affect how many viewers you have. Posting early in the morning or too late at night is not recommended. Instead, post late afternoon/night when people have more free time and are most likely to be active on TikTok. According to Hootsuite’s, How to Use TikTok for Business: A Step-by-Step Guide blog, “You’ll see positive results if you post Thursday at 7 p.m.”

7. Target audience

Knowing your target audience is important. You should analyze what people in your target audience enjoy and videos that brands with similar audiences post.

8. Multiple parts

Creating videos in parts can encourage people to come back to your account. Many people use these types of videos when showing the process of something. They will show the start of the process in one video and at the end say, “Come back for part 2.” This will be intriguing to viewers and make them want to come back to your account later or follow you. You can do this by making a video (part 1) but not revealing the final product until another video (part 2). This will leave people curious to see more from your page.
