Digital Marketing in the time of COVID-19

By now we have received an overload of information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which might seem pretty overwhelming. Event cancellations, school closures, mandatory "work from home," and our inbox exploding with hundreds of emails with statements from all the organizations and businesses we follow.

So I promise I will keep this short, (extremely useful) and sweet!

The team at My Friend Betty Says Digital Marketing Studio has been working extensively on what is best for our clients’ social media messaging today, and we came up with three simple guidelines.

We want to be positive, warm, and encouraging. Everyone is affected by this and there will be varying levels of anxiety and concern flowing through all our communities, which is why these tips are fundamental when reaching out to your audience during these challenging times.

I am happy to share them with you so you keep a strong, online presence with your audience.

  1. Businesses should stay visible.
Social distancing does not mean social isolation. Stay visible, stay connected. Your business should continue to reach out to your audience and present new alternatives for offering your services. Let them know you are in this together, and they can count on you!

  2. Continue to engage as much as possible with your community, other businesses, and your audience.
Communicate any and all challenges you are facing as a local business, reach out to your community, and support other businesses by giving them a "shout-out" on social media. Engage in your social feed and be present!

  3. Continue to diversify your content while staying considerate.
Yes, this is a pandemic, and yes, this is a difficult time for all of us, but we must also consider diversifying our content. We need to remain uplifting, positive, and supportive. Mark the difference in your social feed by posting interesting facts (not COVID-19 related), get loose, and have fun!
