To Quote the Famous…

…Paulo Coelho:
“When you travel, you experience, in a very practical way, the act of rebirth. You confront completely new situations, the day passes more slowly, and on most journeys you don’t even understand the language the people speak. So you are like a child just out of the womb. You begin to attach much more importance to the things around you because your survival depends on them. You begin to be more accessible to others because they may be able to help you in difficult situations. And you accept any small favor from the gods with great delight, as if it were an episode you would remember for the rest of your life. At the same time, since all things are new, you see only the beauty in them, and you feel happy to be alive…” The Pilgrimage

I decided to bring “To Quote the Famous…” back! I used them in my old blog and because I recently worked on a photo book for my parents, it reminded me of this awesome quote. They traveled to four countries in Europe this past June and I thought, at one point my dad had no shoes while growing up in Mexico and now he is traveling the world. What an inspiration. Have your parents done things that really surprise you? What do they presently do that inspires you?

Your friend,

Betty

  1. I totally know those stories from both my father and mother … it’s so heart breakening to know that they struggled so hard and dispite their non-existant relationship with their own parents and very little/limited education they raised us to respect EVERYONE even their own parents!

My parents have traveled most of the US in the past but most recently they went to Puerto Rico where even the “Spanish” was foreign to them and more the lack of spicy foods! Lol, either way they enjoyed their trip.

Currently my Mom has a home based business of selling coffee. Yes, coffee! She does very well for her self and despite her age (65) she is learning more English to promote herself, using the computer, bought a printer, installed it and is currently in Florida meeting people and changing lives … one sip at a time!

While in her absence, my Dad (six years younger!) goes to the Swap-O-Rama and also meets new people while promoting their coffee business. He doesn’t consider himself as “seasoned” as my Mom, but he does great!

They have been a great inspiration and a hard act to fallow, I only hope to keep up in their footsteps and raise my children how they have us. <3

  2. Lety, That is amazing!!! Still chugging along as I like to say. I’d love to hear more about their coffee business as I LOVE the cafecitos!! xoxo

  4. Paulo’s books are serious life changers. I recently recommended one of his books to a friend. Every time I complete one of his books I am left thinking about life and feeling grateful that I came across a book that good!
