To Quote the Famous…#2

August 16, 2012

“I have no time to be in a hurry.”
Henry David Thoreau

I came across these words as I was looking for the Albert Einstein quote for my back-to-school tips. It really made me stop to think. I feel the most stressed out when I am rushing. I’m always rushing. It’s hard not to when I am balancing three little lives apart from Jose’s and mine. I need to get things done a certain way, in a certain amount of time, by this time…it’s killing me. Literally. I wonder if that’s what Thoreau meant?

What’s your interpretation of the quote? By the way, have you read Walden? I know I had to in college but I can’t remember it anymore. Shame on me! It’s a classic!! I’ll add it to my list of books to read.

Like you, I read Walden for school but sadly didn’t appreciate it as much as I know I would now. Not only because I love books so much more now, but I also feel like my life is so aligned with what he was saying. Not that I’m living in a small cabin, but I do try to just do what’s enough for me and nothing more.

That quote is great. I tend to be not so busy, but even I have days where I’m running around frantic. And usually when that happens, nothing productive gets done. So it’s sometimes easier to just let it go!

Hi Nina! You should see the stack of books I have so that I could re-read. Sigh. But to be honest, as an English major, I was bombarded with literature (I remember reading 7 novels at the same time!!!) and I really couldn’t savor each one. The ones I remember, must have made a bigger impact on me then because of what must have been happening in my life at the time. Really want to read Walden asap! Thanks for stopping by!
