The Whole Golden World

I met with my book club last night to talk about our latest read! The Whole Golden World had Mallika worried that she didn’t suggest a good book to the group! Interestingly, everyone had mixed reviews and we were ready to discuss over red wine and delicious treats.

Kristina Riggle’s novel was not this intense, deep, and complicated read we thought it would be based on the plot that intertwined subjects such as infidelity, a consensual (but illegal) relationship between a Senior in high school and her teacher, and intricate family troubles. If anything, it did turn out to be a page turner, and no matter how the six of us felt about the book, we all wanted to hurry and finish just to see what would happen in the end.

The Whole Golden World was decent. It was “like a soap opera”, as some of us concluded, or a reality show, but with really serious issues. We know some things are not always super great, but they are entertaining. Sometimes there is no harm to just sit back, relax and watch or…read.

Have you read it? Let me know what you think!

I haven’t heard of this yet but it seems to be rated pretty well and is a good page-turner. Adding it to my list to read!

I had not heard of this book until now, so I haven’t read it. However, I am super glad that you’re posting about your Book Club selections and discussions, please keep this coming! I have been looking to join a book club in my neck of the woods, but haven’t been able to find a group! I suspect I may have to create one! I am desperate! I am so eager to have a group come together so that we can read and talk and read and talk – I need this! So, your Book Club posts will keep me sated until I find or create a Book Club. 🙂
