The Very Hungry Caterpillar Birthday Party!

September 26, 2013

IMG_1245Nancy is back! She’s truly an amazing, thoughtful and creative hostess. Just check out all the details that went into her little girl’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar 2nd Birthday Party! Enjoy!

My daughter Camila has loved The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle since she was born. I read it to the boys and she would just listen, I thought it would be a great idea for a party. Plus, she loves fruit! Also, she has been going to gymnastics since she was 18 months, so I thought a gym party and this book theme would go well together.

I made the caterpillar decorations myself. I printed big circles with letters to make different banners using Microsoft PowerPoint, super easy. I bought the red and green balloons to match from Party City.

I printed the food labels too. I saw these online. All I did was search for “Very Hungry Caterpillar printables” and THESE from Make it Cozee came up…free!

The kids loved the fruit stations. I had one for every day of the week–exactly like the book! We also had pizza and “caterpillar” salad.

I bought the cake from Pastel! Cakes and More in Archer Heights-Chicago. If you think the outside is beautiful…it is the best birthday cake we have ever tasted! It was a chocolate caramel cream with pecans. Absolutely delicious! I made the cupcakes myself and used toppers that I printed online.

I bought the bags at Target, printed the thank you stickers and stapled them to the bags. The goody bags had fruity snacks and fruit juice inside. Sticking to the theme! I also bought the table covers at Target.

I had the “butterfly” wings for all of the all of the kids but, if they did not want wings we had a “crawling prize box” where they could choose a toy such as insect and bug kits.

Such a great book, and so colorful. The cake looked spectacular, the green and red frosting so vibrant, and coordinated perfectly with the other party decorations including the multicolor dots favor bags. Loved the photos!
