Dreaming: Outdoor Living

Pinterest

As the weather gets better, I feel it will be quite intimidating to go anywhere alone with the three boys! I’m lucky to have a spacious backyard where the boys can run around all summer long (nothing at all like these beautiful spaces). So I am day dreaming again and gathering some inspiration. I picture myself hosting a fabulous dinner party in the picture above…

Coffee Table Books

Pinterest

I spent today’s nap time on Pinterest for a little inspiration and found this awesome image of coffee table books with a touch of pink! What is going on with me??? Is it the level of testosterone around here that is making me scream PINK!? It’s going to be okay…my obsession with pink and my obsession with displaying books! I realized all the images I fell in love with had a touch of pink.

I love the idea of putting coffee table books on chairs or anything else besides an actual coffee table. How cool is that chair with the Chanel book on it?

Gosh, to have these many beautiful books to display under and over the coffee table. Gorgeous!

My turn…!!!

This is the area in my dining room I want to add some new coffee table books…notice it already has the pink touch!!
My picture is not as good as the ones above but not too shabby right? I went to my bookshelves to find some books…

I would like some high fashion books now. I notice I don’t have any. I guess I never displayed these with Sitting Buddha because I wanted to keep it black, white and pink. I learned today that it doesn’t really matter to match everything perfectly.

That was my project today! I think Sitting Buddha is happier to have some more books around. AND I think I officially have books in every room now!

What inspires you? Looks like Pinterest is really working for me!! It made a room a little brighter today with things I already owned, I took out my camera for some photography practice and I wrote a bit! Not a bad nap time!

Hello Flowers! Um…Nice to Meet You?

Not too long ago, I wrote a little about my dream for a Pink room, by no means is our sun room you see above really a pink room. We use this room for reading with the boys and a few toys are allowed to hang out in the corner. I threw some pink pillows I bought during our stay in Singapore and Jose bought me this floor poof pillow from Pier 1 not too long ago. Really…just thrown together. So yesterday I peaked in there early in the morning and surprise… pink flowers were peaking through our windows!!! Do you see them?!? So pretty…

Some of you may know we have only been out in the suburbs for about 8 months. These city kids are dealing with watering the lawn for the first time and pretty much haggling with landscapers. We know nothing about gardening, basically only know a rose from a tulip (Easter morning I discovered 2 red tulips!) and I personally wish I would have paid attention to my dad’s garden.

While the boys played outside today, I took a picture of the bush with the awesome pink flowers (that’s what I’m calling them). And as I drove around the neighborhood today, I noticed some of the neighbors have the same ones! They must all be blooming! So, I don’t know what type of flower it is and if someone can please tell me I would really appreciate it!!!
Can’t wait to see what else pops up around here in suburbia!!!

Pink

Elle Decor

Please say it ain’t so! Time is questioning whether or not the color pink exists?!? “Pink, the color, is just the wishful thinking of our brain blending the red and violet wavelengths together to create the color of many little girls’ birthday parties.” Bummer. Well, in a house full of boys and definitely no let’s-see-if-we-can-have-a-girl baby #4, all the rooms in the house are neutral with a splash of bold accents. Let’s see, I threw some pink Japanese pillows in the sun room and I have a pink table runner in my dining room. The boy’s bathroom is an unfortunate 70′s pink design (pink bathtub, pink toilet…!) that I decorated in a monkey theme with browns and greens… One day, I hope to have a room just for myself; no soccer balls, no cars, no blues! Maybe a pink walk-in closet? A pink sitting room? Ooooh, a pink office!!! I found these beautiful pictures for inspiration today.

I’m a girly-girl, feminine and I love pink! I also embrace the masculinity around here but I will get more creative. Whether pink exists or not, even in a house full of boys, I will make it work for us. Have you decorated a room other than a girl’s bedroom in pink? Please share!
