Musical Notes Theme Party

Musical Notes Theme party was all inspired by Music Together! Santi loves to sing and dance and I wanted his 2nd birthday party to be all about music, black notes and the color of sunshine! His teacher came over to do a class for his friends in this play date style/lunch party. We had so much fun! Details below:

Dinosaur Theme Birthday Party

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? For us, this weekend was full of more birthday celebrations, lots of soccer, and a yearly block party. Our weekends are always social and because our family is far away, we embrace opportunities to see old friends and to make new ones!

The weekend activities also inspire me and I say perfect timing because next month is Santi’s 2nd birthday! Keep an eye out for that post because I’ll be using a lot of Pinterest ideas for a musical theme! I’m so excited! For now, here are some pictures from Diego’s 4th birthday back in our place in NYC. Enjoy! [Read more...]

Olivia Theme Birthday Party

This is Olivia! She is my precious goddaughter and she turned 2 in March! Tiz (one of my BFFs) sent me these pictures to share with you. How I wish I was closer to celebrate with Tiz, Olivia and their family and friends. Tiz, as my guest blogger, included her party tips inpired by the book character Oliva. Enjoy! (By the way, Olivia is fashionably wearing a top from TJ Maxx, a skirt from Old Navy and Converse shoes from Nordstrom). [Read more...]

Cowboy Party Theme

Yeehaw! Santi’s first birthday party was inspired by a cute little cowboy I found on Birthday Express. Sometimes it just takes one little thing to get you into the party mode and just like that you have a party theme.

I got to work right away and as always, Oriental Trading came through with the cowboy hats, bandanas, and small favor bags. I knew I would be able to get a cowboy themed piñata with Party City and found the right horse!

Unique and Creative Birth Announcements

It really seems that photo announcements have replaced the good ol’ cigar as a method to celebrate or announce the delivery of a new baby. Diego will be going to school the day of my scheduled c-section so as I was searching for some “announcement” that would be made by him for his classmates. I came across these cool ideas that take place instead or can go along with those cute photo cards.

Personalized M&M’s Super cute and who doesn’t like M&M’s? I found these yummy occasion blends for baby boy. You can pick and choose any packaging depending on your budget and then…pass around!

Personalized Chocolate Suckers from Old Fashioned Candies. Aren’t these adorable? I have mentioned to you before that Old Fashioned Candies was the place of my first job ever! They now ship anywhere and ship well! I love these round chocolate suckers that can be personalized any way you would like…the options are endless. They are so creative!! I miss my friends (my second family) at OFC so much but we have remained in touch now for over 15 years!

Personalized Cookies Splurge Bakery has this cute little box of home-made and personalized (even with your new baby’s photo!). I didn’t realize that they can ship anywhere as well and I have personally ordered my space ship cake and a baby shower cake from here…absolutely delicious!

Outdoor Birth Announcements Crayola has this neat art activity to display outside your front steps! It’s really a washable sidewalk paint kit and you can welcome your baby’s first guests with a peronal message. Kids can help with this project as well…very hands on!

Cigars (but the bubble gum kind!) If you are feeling like you miss that old fashioned distribution of the cigars…a classic…you can always get the sweeter version! Party City carries bubble gum cigars and they are definitely super cute and I imagine delicious!

I think I will definitely order a sweet for Diego’s class (not the cigars! But maybe for Jose’s office?!?!) and I will have him make personal cards with the baby’s name using materials from our arts and crafts box. Come back to check how Diego’s project turns out!!

Baseball Party Theme

I was looking back at some of Diego’s old pictures and came across his 3rd birthday party! I’m not planning a party right now…just the arrival of baby number #3!! Since I miss Diego as a little baby, I find myself looking at his old pictures often and wonder how time flies.

If you are planning a party and baseball is huge in your house as it is in ours, here is a cute baseball theme that can be used for any age!! Enjoy!

Decorations: All the decorations can be purchased at Party City. I bought the “green field” table cover for a little bit more but you can use a regular green table cover too. The baseball place mats you see on the table corners were purchased years ago from Pottery Barn Kids…they don’t have them anymore but they always have cute baseball stuff!

Cute idea: Living in New York meant meeting friends from all over the world. So we asked everyone in the invitation to wear their favorite baseball team tee or jersey. Teams from The Oakland A’s to the New York Mets were represented. We of course wore our Cubs gear!

The food: All ball park food of course! Including beer in plastic cups for the adults!! We grilled hot dogs in our tiny Tribeca apartment (I’m sure the neighbors loved that) on our small stove-top cast iron grill. I threw frozen pretzels from Whole Foods in the oven, bought peanuts and Cracker Jack boxes from Nationwide Candy online and made sure to have plenty of Baby Ruth chocolate bars!

Diego’s beautiful cake and cupcakes were made by my friend Laila! Aren’t they gorgeous?

Look at Diego’s tiny face!!! They are only little rookies for a bit huh?

Please share other ideas that would have been good for the table! Love to hear your thoughts!

Betty
