Hello 2013!!

Another year to start fresh!!

So how come I have been reading that 2013 might just be unlucky or plain awful?. One article even talks about ditching the new resolutions all together (a great read)!

I posted the above message on My Friend Betty’s FB page on New Year’s Day and it was well liked! I found it on Pinterest and felt it was a great way to welcome 2013. Also, isn’t it simply a great outlook on life? No need to be worried about the number 13 or feel that your expectations are too high. Follow this message, keep it simple and be positive.

What do you think? Are you superstitious?

New Year’s Resolution?

Back in January, I was speaking to my friend Jackie about her New Year’s resolution, she was excited and determined and had all these amazing plans…it occurred to me that I had no resolution. No goals. No changes. Nada. All I was thinking about at the time was surviving this pregnancy when already three people depended on me day after day. I asked myself, “What am I doing for myself?!?” NOTHING (besides going to the gym)! The anticipation of having baby number three was really taking over my life, as it should, but it shouldn’t completely! Another good friend, Celeste, told me over coffee all about the awesome website she has been working on (will be sharing soon!!) and I thought, “Why not write? But for real this time.” That was my New Year’s resolution. I was going to do something that I have been wanting to do and I was going to share it with the world!! Since then, I have posted 36 times since January 30th!

My writing routine is like this: Diego, Santi, or Jose do something funny, smart, bad, etc., I take a picture, and I think about how it would make an awesome post for my blog. Hee hee. I jot down a note on my iPhone and then when I have the house all to myself, (Jose at work, Diego at school and Santi napping) I write! And I am happy. This is also my reading time. I read books, magazines, the news on line and other blogs which then triggers lots of ideas or simply makes me want to share what I have learned. This takes about an hour or two of nap time. At night, I come back to edit (or not since you can probably catch a million grammar mistakes!!) and my darling husband, after all he does all day, takes a quick look at my posts. He hasn’t asked me to trash one post yet. Everything, including myself, is a work in progress.

I enjoy the space I have picked to do my writing. I indulge in yummy coffee and sweets. I enjoy reading People, Time or Vanity Fair. It’s quiet and I am at peace. I would be lying if I said it didn’t matter if no one read my posts because when I hit the publish button on my WordPress post, I can’t wait to hear what you all have to say. It’s healthy for me…all of this jotting down and rambling. Most people pick a healthy change in their lives as their New Year’s resolution. This is mine.

And it’s now March 23rd y’all! Are you still following that amazing New Year’s resolution? Never too late to start it up again! I hear little Santi stirring in the room next door so I must go!

Have a great weekend!!

Your friend,
Betty
