Preparing for Sandy

This has been the longest weekend ever. I don’t watch a lot of TV so I was surprised when I overheard people discussing a hurricane approaching our area. I was in denial for a few days after that but woke up on Saturday and realized this was no joke. [Read more...]

My Laborious Weekend

Life is good (even w/out Photoshop)

Wow Labor Day already! I have to say that for me, this was the LONGEST summer ever! Maybe because I was HUGE in April and the weather was really warm then? I am just so ready for fall clothes and a little chill in the air. I am also so ready for a regular back-to-school routine. I have been trying to squeeze in some reading and writing and it has been tough with all the busyness we had around here!

We just got back from an awesome trip to our dear friend Kinsey’s beach house in Connecticut and we also went to visit another great friend Donna and her family in Baltimore. Didn’t I tell you how much I love the East Coast? The boys were so happy visiting old and new friends. So this Labor Day weekend we had one of my BFFs over from Brooklyn with her kiddies and Isabella (she’s back!!) for a wet BBQ (why does that always happen to me?). I continued to be nice to myself and felt really inspired to learn some new things as well. Check it out:

I am embarrassed to tell you that as much as I love photography, I have never played with Photoshop. So I tried it this weekend and after hours of making beautiful images…HUGE FAIL! I also tried to re-design this website on my own and another HUGE FAIL. What else? Oh, I wrote this long blog post because I hoped to end your suffering and negative thinking…blah, blah, blah and we had a power outage!! The whole town! Not even a storm!!! Ahem, I did not save my work. I’m sure it was the Gods of the blog universe sending a message to literally pull the plug on that one. Sigh.

My summer end was a bit of a bust but that is the balance of life. No real crises of course! Just a few let downs. All in all, I learned and I was able to write this piece with no fancy photography, no new design to wow you, and no lecture this time (ha!). I will squeeze in that when it is time to say, “the hell with it”, then the hell with it. Surrender and see all the other awesome stuff that was accomplished.

Hope you had a wonderful Labor Day! Talk to me! SEE how many words are in ALL CAP and how many times I used the word “huge”? I’m excited to be back. I’ve missed you.

Wordless Wednesday: Family-Only Airplanes?

Straight out of one of my favorite humor/parent blogs: How To Be A Dad
Please, please check them out! Andy and Charlie are hilarious and I love to read a male’s point of view on parenting.

This Wordless Wednesday post is getting wordy!! So…Kid-only/Family-only airplanes? Yay or Nay? Please discuss. :-)

Different Shades of Friendship

Another week gone in an instant!  They just go so fast for me. We started Monday with a little pink eye on Santi and then on Tuesday Diego had two pink eyes. Jordi has been congested all week and I continue to be sleep deprived.  Another bad case of the Thursdays ensued once again…but it’s FRIDAY y’all! And I couldn’t be happier! We have great friends and family arriving next week Tuesday from Chicago and they are bringing tortillas, chicharrones, and guess what else????? Pequod’s Pizza!!!! Yippee!

The past seven weeks have been rough, no doubt. Jordi is our latest little blessing that has turned our house upside down. I hate to blame it on him! He sleeps all the time! My little sweet boy. And not a day goes by that I don’t appreciate my friends and family back home. This small group of BFFs are always my life savers. Despite it being postpartum week number seven, gifts still came in the mail for Jordi, I keep getting checking-up-on-you texts by friends and even flowers from Jose. Another BFF rescued me this week by simply answering the phone and demanding I call her back as soon as I could. The best gift this week was a good hearty laugh I had when I opened up a box that came for me in the mail. [Read more...]

Thoughtful (Thirsty) Thursday

It’s hot here in Jersey! What are you doing to stay cool? Dreaming of a nice cold beer? I’m hydrating with tons of water since I am the only supervisor on duty of three little munchkins who are already a little “too happy”. I’m still only sipping a little of this or a little of that but I am dreaming of nice cold alcoholic beverages today! You are definitely thinking by now that I really need an intervention. No need to worry! Just trying to relax a bit. Remember my rant from earlier this week? Working on it all! So I’m trying to stay positive and visualize happy things and today I am dreaming of Chicago and a nice cold beverage (or three). [Read more...]

Mother of Three…A Month Later

It’s been a month everyone! We have had a glimpse of what our future holds! Jose and I are totally outnumbered and we look at each other from time to time (not much time to look at each other really) with bewildered looks as if saying, “What have we gotten ourselves into?” Those parents you see with more than three children? I give them so much credit. I can’t even imagine having more than three children at this point. Jordi turns one month in a couple of days and here is my list of what I have learned so far about being a mother of three boys:  [Read more...]

Baby’s Thoughts

Here is Jordi’s debut on My Friend Betty Says!!! I do have better pictures (future post) but lately I have been staring at his expressionless, tiny and adorable little face wondering what he must be thinking?? This picture captured that emotion for me but I also find it funny! How can I laugh at a one week old you ask? I can’t help it! I think newborns are so funny! And I bet he is thinking funny things such as:

“Whew, long day. I’ve been up for 20 minutes and I am so exhausted.”

“How is that milk coming along mommy, I’m thirsty here!”

“The big kid over there I can deal with but the little pudgy one seems a bit out of sorts!”

“How can I get to the boob a little faster?” (Jose thought of this one of course).

“You know those cold butt wipes mommy? Not nice.”

We will never know huh? This baby thinking is a part of life’s little mysteries. I also wonder if he dreams. I mean he sleeps all day! Surely he must have some good entertainment in his little brain in order to put in so many hours.

I will continue to stare and make faces that I’m sure he finds annoying at times. Pretty soon he’ll be really expressing (demanding) what he feels and then I’ll wish for these quiet moments and the thoughtful silence.

What do you think Jordi Mateo is thinking?
