Sakura

Santi and I went to the park this morning for a little fresh air. The weather has been surprisingly perfect! As I was taking this picture, I automatically went into my “I miss Japan” mind mode. Spring time is when I remember Japan the most. Our three years in Japan…sigh, what great memories. I miss the beauty of Tokyo in the Spring. The flourishing Sakura , or Cherry Blossom, is the first sign that Spring has arrived. Picture the blooming Sakura, the green leaves on the trees, bright new grass and yellow daffodils growing in the squeaky-clean city of Tokyo: pure magic. If we can’t get to Japan for a visit soon, maybe next Spring we can do a trip to Washington D.C?

From USA Today, “A hundred years ago this month first lady Helen Taft and the Viscountess Chinda, wife of the Japanese ambassador, planted two Yoshino cherry trees on the banks of the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C.” Here are some pictures I find inspiring today.
