Birth Announcements by Diego

We have really been working hard around here to help Diego understand that he is still super special and that the birth of his second baby brother will not change the way we feel about him. Since my mother arrived last week, Diego has been a little extra naughty, a little defiant and a little extra silly (he mooned our new babysitter Yesenia in the kitchen!!!). Jose and I had a special date night with just Diego (he loved it!) and he and I sat down to make birth announcements after he expressed his concern that his classmates were mispronouncing his new baby brother’s name (they were calling him Georgie). I wanted him to go to school the day of my c-section with homemade muffins and kid-made cards.

Gathering materials was super simple. I bought blank blue cards from Target for cheap along with some baby boy friendly stickers. We already had stamps and markers and we got to work!

I helped Diego with the stamping. He wrote his name and his classmates names on each card (practiced that handwriting!), he drew pictures and stuck stickers.

We made 10 cards, one for each buddy, and we made an extra special one for Mrs. Stroman.

Voila! We stuffed envelopes, added more stickers and now everyone will know how to spell (and hopefully sound out) Jordi Mateo’s name. I thought this would also be a nice way to let the other moms know that I have finally popped! They have been so nice to let me take the closest parking spot at school and asking if they could help in any way. Most important, this project took 3 days! Diego and I worked side by side on an “art project” right after school. It was definitely great bonding time.

Have a great weekend! And Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unique and Creative Birth Announcements

It really seems that photo announcements have replaced the good ol’ cigar as a method to celebrate or announce the delivery of a new baby. Diego will be going to school the day of my scheduled c-section so as I was searching for some “announcement” that would be made by him for his classmates. I came across these cool ideas that take place instead or can go along with those cute photo cards.

Personalized M&M’s Super cute and who doesn’t like M&M’s? I found these yummy occasion blends for baby boy. You can pick and choose any packaging depending on your budget and then…pass around!

Personalized Chocolate Suckers from Old Fashioned Candies. Aren’t these adorable? I have mentioned to you before that Old Fashioned Candies was the place of my first job ever! They now ship anywhere and ship well! I love these round chocolate suckers that can be personalized any way you would like…the options are endless. They are so creative!! I miss my friends (my second family) at OFC so much but we have remained in touch now for over 15 years!

Personalized Cookies Splurge Bakery has this cute little box of home-made and personalized (even with your new baby’s photo!). I didn’t realize that they can ship anywhere as well and I have personally ordered my space ship cake and a baby shower cake from here…absolutely delicious!

Outdoor Birth Announcements Crayola has this neat art activity to display outside your front steps! It’s really a washable sidewalk paint kit and you can welcome your baby’s first guests with a peronal message. Kids can help with this project as well…very hands on!

Cigars (but the bubble gum kind!) If you are feeling like you miss that old fashioned distribution of the cigars…a classic…you can always get the sweeter version! Party City carries bubble gum cigars and they are definitely super cute and I imagine delicious!

I think I will definitely order a sweet for Diego’s class (not the cigars! But maybe for Jose’s office?!?!) and I will have him make personal cards with the baby’s name using materials from our arts and crafts box. Come back to check how Diego’s project turns out!!
