Dinner Party!

I love this idea for a teacher get-together!

What are you up to this weekend? I’m getting ready to host a dinner party for 10 (plus 5 children)!

We love getting together with Jose’s first NYC buddies. It started with a group of 6 friends (2 married!) and now we are 5 couples who have known each other for over 10 years! It’s fantastic to share updates, spread good news and meet new babies!

We will be throwing everything on the grill today but will eat indoors as it is going to be over 90 degrees in NJ! A good excuse for a table arrangement.

Diego is also having his first piano recital tomorrow!!! A picture of his last rehearsal here. Please wish him luck! I’ll let you know how it all turns out.

Have a fantastic weekend!

48 Hours in Chicago

1950s-chicago

Baby Jordi and I will be in Chicago this weekend! It’s my sweet goddaughter’s First Communion! Another blessed weekend! The bigger boys will all be home doing a bunch of sports, eating out and enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Our whole family is in Chicago and I can’t wait to see my parents, my siblings, my goddaughters and my comadres!

I hope you have a great weekend planned too!

Guys, I’m starting to unravel again. I’m absolutely exhausted. Do you know how I know I can’t do any more? I stop writing, I stop doing social media, I snap at everyone around me and I wish for the day to come to an end. Geez, I just declined a thirty minute break to go get a manicure. My shoulders are rocks, my face and head hurt from tension. I’m a mess. A few days ago Diego asked if I was in a good mood. It’s starting to show.

What happens when what you love to do starts taking a toll? I love to workout and perhaps I’m doing too much of it. I love to write and read into the late hours of the night but maybe I need to close the computer for a bit? When I start to think that what I do doesn’t really matter, I think, “But I write to my readers about staying positive!” and I feel like a huge phony. When Diego asked me if I was in a good mood, he asked me because he was surprised that I was in a good mood! He was thrown off by my smiles and sweet voice. Poor kid. I have three boys that obviously need to know all about different emotions but right now it’s off balance and they are seeing more of my negative side.

Just yesterday I wrote a Positive Series post and I truly meant every single thing I said. All of those posts are written with so much happiness and so much energy. I always write with true and good intentions. There are days I feel I need to also be honest of my not-so-happy moments. I work hard, really hard at this and at being a mom, a wife and a friend. I believe that many people need an everyday push and that’s why I’m here.

The internet is an amazing place and I found this on my Twitter feed today!! In a nutshell, I will concentrate on setting my reset button. I will be more conscious of staying away from my phone. No checking analytics, Facebook, Twitter…etc, every hour. I will not workout today, I will not write unless I’m writing with a smile, I will sleep more than 6 hours for the next few nights, seriously.

How are you feeling? What do you need to “hit esc” on for a bit?

See you back here on Monday. Fully rested. :-) xoxo

In Aruba…

Everyone we met…

…thought we were the coolest parents with the best stroller.

…thought we were the craziest parents for traveling with three kids and that stroller.

…wanted to know if we would try for the girl.

…knew there was no one trying for any girl or any boy.

Snowed In

Another storm is headed our way! School has been canceled in our town and all over the tri-state area for today. We have had our fair share of super storms around here! Unfortunately, Diego’s big birthday bash planned for tomorrow might be canceled too. He’s taking it better than I am.

Positive thoughts! 1) We are fortunate to have everything we need to keep the boys entertained all weekend long. 2) My mom’s flight back to Chicago is on Sunday and everything should be back to normal by then. And 3) A day or two of no running around for school and soccer is quite nice. We will just sit tight and enjoy playing in the snow.

What are your plans for the weekend? Wishing you only the best.

Weekend Reads and Thoughts

subwayreading

Hi everyone! Did you have a nice weekend? We are still up watching the Super Bowl. How fantastic was Beyonce??? Inspirational.

Did you pay attention to the commercials? Can’t pick a favorite. How about you?

I keep thinking of the Harbaugh parents. How incredible to have your two sons as head coaches and facing each other at the Super Bowl??? No matter what, they should celebrate, no?

I didn’t read much this weekend because I met with a great friend on Friday night, went shopping with my mom (still here and I’m loving it!), Jose and I had a school event on Saturday night and had our BFFs over to watch the first half of the game (we have 5 children all together which explains the early night).

But I did discover an amazing recipe! It looks simple and dee-lish!! I want to try it.

And I thought about how if we still lived in a big city, I could live here

…and I can whip up some recipes in that small kitchen from this site. It’s in Spanish too!

This weekend I also started working on my next piece for Mommy Maestra. If you didn’t catch the last one, please check it out!

The last thing I did today (before blogging) was write a very long email to a teacher friend of mine who was my mentor when I started my career 10+ years ago! My friend Lori is now retired and even though we have a little bit of an age difference, she is really a close friend of mine. She is not on Facebook so she always writes a personal note to me when she sends a Christmas card. I miss her dearly.

Do you have friends who are much older than you? What makes you such close friends?

Have a great week (I have a busy one! Wish me luck)!

P.S. This is my 200th post!!
