When I was a little girl, I remember how excited I was to watch the Summer Olympics with my parents. The petite, yet super strong and greatly postured gymnasts were my favorite to watch. Diego did a unit in summer camp that covered the Olympics and he was so excited to know that a graduate from his school was competing in the swimming Olympic trials! Two weeks ago we sat to watch Nick Fink on television and although he didn’t make the Olympic team, Diego quickly became a fan of swimming and of Michael Phelps of course.
On Tuesday, we had to go back to the library to re-new his chapter books and I decided to ask the librarian for any Olympic books they had shelved. She recommended these:

I figured that since Diego expressed so much interest in the Olympic games and Michael Phelps, why not read about it? I also showed him our old pictures of the trip we took to Greece two years ago and mentioned to him how he was fortunate enough to have lapped around the ancient Olympic Stadium,Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens.
