Just recently, I met Sasha Monik Moreno, a truly inspirational woman. She is Mexican American, an attorney living in Los Angeles and passionate about helping young Latinas achieve their dreams. Sasha started The Modern Latina, a website dedicated to help students navigate from the classroom to the boardroom. Although Sasha has achieved her professional goals, the process wasn’t easy and she is dedicated to provide information to young Latinas. Everything from scholarship info to internship opportunities can be found at The Modern Latina.

I asked her about scholarship information because I know some of my readers have children who will soon be visiting colleges and universities. Higher education is expensive, but worth the investment. Nevertheless, there are many ways to help pay for college and scholarships are abundant. Start taking a look!

Sasha’s five recommendations would be the following:

1) Gates Millennium Scholars Program
2) Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF)
3) Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Scholarships
4) Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU)
5) Hispanic Heritage Foundation

General scholarship sites are:
1) Fastweb
2) Scholarships.com
3) Sallie Mae Scholarships

If you know of anyone who has a Junior or Senior in high school or if you are an educator, please pass this information along! Thank you again, Sasha for everything you are doing to empower our Latino youth.

Please follow The Modern Latina on Facebook!

Sasha is great! I’ve been thinking about going back to grad school but the price scares me away.
