Hello! I’m back! I’m sorry I have been gone long. I became really busy with Chicago guests! My mom was here for two weeks and I just sat back, enjoyed her company and ran out the door with out the kids a lot! My Tia Mago surprised us after week one and joined us from Chicago as well! Then I had an extra pair of hands and literally took advantage of the ladies (that’s the nickname I gave them a few years ago). I went to the spa for an hour massage and a pedicure and Jose and I went on three dates!!! I was able to take Diego to soccer practice alone, I went grocery shopping alone, made numerous Starbucks stops, including a coffee date with my friend Celeste, and ran daily errands without the hassle of buckling car seats and stressing in traffic because of little backseat tantrums.

We also hosted my childhood friend, Carol (remember her from the first guest post?) and her family one evening and had a fantastic time. They stopped in New Jersey as they made their way back to Chicago after a family vacation in New York City. We ordered pizza, had cupcakes and wine! The children and hubbies met for the first time and I have a feeling it won’t be the last. It was funny watching them go as no one would stop talking and laughing. We were still shouting from the front door as they were replying from their car. So much fun.
A day visit is just as great as my one week visit from my aunt and the two week visit from my mom. We had so much fun as a group too. The ladies and I went shopping, the two of them went on long walks in the evenings and Jose and I made them dinner and a farewell breakfast that included homemade, whole-wheat pancakes made by Jose and mimosas made by me
. The boys and I will surely miss them.
It’s been eight years since I left Chicago. I still think about it a lot. But we love having friends and family over and look forward to “booking” in the next guests on our calendar. The best part is that people keep coming to spend time together and we are creating lasting memories. Until next time!
Your friend,
Betty

P.S. Thanks for being patient and checking in on me. I was blown away by the emails and texts from people wondering if I was okay because my blog wasn’t updated! Look at my smile in these pictures. It’s so important to let go once in a while and just enjoy the moments (but I’ll let you know if I decide to take some time off in the future)!

Wow!! You definitely had some “Betty” time!! Good for you that you were able to get pampered!! So glad that you had the extra hands. I’m sure it was a wonderful feeling being able to go on dates with Jose. It can get a little hectic and overwhelming when so much attention is focused on the kids that sometimes we put aside our relationship/marriage. I like to see the efforts put in for some alone time. That is always great!!! I can’t believe it’s been 8 years since you left Chicago. It’s ok though makes me miss you more and always look forward to our chats. Even if Diego is a picky eater! Haha!!!!! xoxo
Thanks Yvette! It was a great time for me and for all of us (I hope!). Now stop calling me at dinner time!!! LOL Just kidding. It’s so nice to be distracted at that time! hahahha! Miss you too…tons!
