Parenting Challenges: The Daredevils

August 17, 2013

Disclosure: This is part of a compensated campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Huggies. However, all opinions expressed are my own.

Just look at this baby go! Taunting me; going up concrete steps, barefoot…with his blankie! That cheeky smile! I don’t think he understands the word “no” yet. Actually, he does but he decides to ignore it 99 percent of the time. Sigh. My little Jordi is my third boy, my youngest, but the bravest. No offense to Diego (my oldest) who is a courageous six-year old, but his brothers will give Jose and I canas (gray hair) before we know it.

While on our trip to Puerto Vallarta, Santi had no fear of the water! He was plunging in and teaching himself how to float and swim (he’s not even 3 yet!!).  Jordi is not too far behind and I’m getting nervous! Three boys to run after and the one in diapers thinks he is as big as his brothers…I’m in trouble! I fear going anywhere alone. A trip to the park is one of my biggest parenting challenges. No joke.

Luckily for me, choosing Huggies® Snug & Dry Diapers with NEW SureFit* Design has been a salvation. Jordi can run, climb over playground equipment, go up and down stairs and stay dry and clean. The diapers provide up to 12 hours of leakage protection. They have a unique flexible waistband for all-around fit, allowing Jordi to continue exploring and get in to more mischief. They have a more conforming gap-free fit too.

When I do need to catch him for a break, Huggies Natural Care® Wipes with NEW Triple Clean* Layers are gentle on baby’s skin but thick enough to clean the mess. I love the strong, soft, absorbent layers (they smell great too!).

I know I’m not alone when it comes to parenting challenges. I would love for you to check out the beautiful series of Huggies’ parenting webisodes featuring former Miss Universe,  Zuleyka Rivera, Huggies spokesperson, and her son Sebastian (she struggles to change HIS diaper!). Click HERE for the latest video and give her a little shout out! Sebastian is so cute! The webisodes will be uploaded monthly and can be viewed on the Huggies Latino Facebook page as well.

In the mean time, I have to keep a watchful eye on these daring little boys! I honestly even have nightmares about them falling and hurting themselves. I know I can’t live life worrying about them in this way. But, I can’t help that a mother wants to always make sure they are as secure as possible. Thank you Huggies for always doing your part.

I definitely have a hard time with the diaper changes! And getting my little man to leave places when he doesnt want to! Im not above a little bribery though! Ohhhh and he loves to pick up all bugs. Trying to teach him that spiders, snakes and bumblebees (etc) arent safe to play with has been a toughie!

Love your little cutie Betty! Xo

Bugs! Oh no!! I’m sure I am not far from that. The boys like to dig around the backyard for treasures! Yuck.
Good luck with the diapering, Sarah! When you had a couple of more to the mix, it’s even more fun!! lol 😉

It must be something about the “last” babies :-\ Amalia is the last of four, of which three are boys and she is the biggest daredevil! :'( She is just a bit older than Santi but still not three as well and has been going down the slides at the park by herself since she was just past a year and a half o_O
In any event, I do find myself having to work hard to turn a blind eye to 99% of the things that they do. I feel that I’m sometimes the worst parent but I have to pick and choose my battles otherwise they will not know how to be independent.
You’re doing a great job, let them be free.

Leticia, I always wondered if Jordi was a girl, would he be doing the same thing? You might be right about being the “baby” of the house. They just need to keep up! Thanks for your support and encouragement. “Let them be free”. I like that. xoxo

[…] Zuleyka and Sebastian? She is so wonderfully open about what worries her–like ALL mothers! We can be quite funny […]
