As my tiniest baby turns 4 weeks in a few days, my oldest baby is graduating preschool today. In my wildest dreams, I imagined Diego to be a cool kid that would speak two languages, that would love sports, that would be polite and friendly, that would be thoughtful and curious, that would love his family and by nature would just be a really nice kid. My dreams have come true and then some.
At the tender age of five, his personality is already well established, he is outgoing and happy, a natural at soccer, he is reading fluently, dabbing at fractions and multiplications (!), is obsessed with homonyms and synonyms, “engineers” with Legos and most importantly he is always “teaching” and looking out for his baby brothers.
I want to remember my five year old baby just like this forever and ever. But I can’t wait to see what else his beautiful life will offer him and the rest of us.
How many times do you think I’ll cry at the ceremony today?
Your friend,
Betty
