For YOU, Life

Frosty Weekend

January 6, 2014

I hope you had a great weekend! Our dear friends, who we met in Japan about eight years ago, came to visit! They now live in London and are on their way back tonight. Their adorable little guy and Diego just picked up where they left off two years ago and they played and played. It was so nice to just relax on this super cold weekend. Carla and I did get a chance to enjoy a girls’ night out on Saturday and even did a little shopping today!

Hubby was home for the majority of the holidays and we all enjoyed our first vacation at home. We enjoyed spending time with friends and visiting New York City (3 times!). If you live in New Jersey or NYC, have you visited the Liberty Science Center? It was a hit for all of my boys! We also went to the movies for the first time as a family and we all made it through Frozen!

Nevertheless, it is back to the routine for us and for so many people today. My boys will return to work and school and busy life continues. I’m so sorry to hear that Chicago is dealing with extremely cold temperatures. If you get to stay home today, I hope everyone gets to enjoy a cozy and safe Monday.

Here are your weekend links! Enjoy!

Loving this post! Over the Holiday break, my kids and I were playing a lot of board games and I was disappointed that we didn’t have any bilingual ones….now I have a whole list to choose from!! Gracias! πŸ™‚

I also love your next read choice, I’m putting it on my list. I recently read The War of Art, a must read for anyone interested in any sort of artistic work (writing being the main one), Onward by Howard Schultz (Starbucks CEO) – this man is unique in his business views and philosophies and SO inspirational! and lastly, The Fault in Our Stars, I don’t know why or how I missed this gem, but this novel (soon to be a movie, June 2014) is amazing!!!

Maria, so glad you can use the bilingual game ideas! I’ve heard that some people really want to add game night for 2014 with their families. Fantastic!

Shame on me!!!! I have had The Fault in Our Stars on my bedside table for a very LONG time and haven’t picked it up. I will now!!! Thank you for the other recommendations too! xoxo

By the way, the book is being translated to Spanish, which I am also looking forward to reading. It’s my new thing, I re-read all of my favorite books in Spanish, if available, in order to experience it through a different lens.

Ooh I hope you like Maya’s Notebook. Warning: some parts are tough to read, but I was still hooked. Happy back-to-regular-life day Betty lol πŸ™‚

I have an authentic deck of playing cards from Spain and if anyone has the rules to escoba or chinchon I would love them. Daniella and I have a blast playing board games (althought my little one is a sore loser!) and it’s so nice to stay in on the weekends after 7 months of nothing but a hectic schedule. Love the games in your link!

I have yet to meet a 7 year-old who is not a sore loser! LOL The games are an opportunity to have those discussions too. xoxo
