Frame of Mind

FramedChicagoMap
I recently came across this awesome slideshow of a hip Minnesota home in the New York Times. The family had a framed map of Chicago and I suddenly became more interested in the decor!  Framing a special map can brighten up any room in the house, become a conversation piece or simply bring you great memories of past trips and old home towns. How neat would it also be for your children to have a piece of your family’s story on a wall? You can go elegant or casual for bedrooms, nurseries and even bathrooms! Why not? Maps as art work. Take a look!

What do you think of the idea? Have you framed maps? My wheels are spinning! 🙂

I knew it looked familiar! I think I read a review in New York Magazine but I can’t find it now. Maybe I’ll get the book! NY was my first home away from home, Jose and I became engaged in Manhattan, and we had our second baby there too! Sigh. I heart NY. Thanks again!

I regret not doing a similar idea with my son’s nursery. I was not feeling themes that were available for boys and I saw a colorful items with maps, and passports at land of nod and figured I can do a world traveler theme. I thought it would be easy transition from infant to toddler’s room but I had a hard time finding a bedding set for his crib. Hopefully when it’s time to change his room he would like the idea!

Yes yes yes! You’ll go through so many phases of updating his room so this could be one! Or you can do a bathroom! Or a playroom! Or a reading nook! Or an office! jajaja! I can keep going! Thanks for commenting Lisa! xoxo
