Those who know me or are about to know me, know that I have two loves…my daughter and Zumba!!! Okay three loves…sorry honey!!! Okay maybe four…daughter, Zumba, husband and running! Not in that order.
Between my daughter and my full time job, I’m pretty busy. So busy in fact that I decided to run my second marathon this year! So, somewhere in my life, I’m a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a paralegal, a fitness instructor AND training for a marathon. My husband thinks I’m crazy, but I am who I am, and he knew this when he decided to marry me.
No matter how we see it, we never have enough time to work out, right mommies? We try to squeeze in 30 minutes here and there. We try to do the videos at home or use that treadmill we have that is mostly used to hang clothes on. We take the kids out in the stroller for a walk OR take the bike out so your 4 year-old can ride it while you walk- only to have your daughter give you her bike because she’s tired and now you’re stuck carrying the bike back home! Wait, maybe this is just me. There’s just not enough time!!
Two years ago the love of Zumba started for me. I took a class with a close friend of mine. We had so much fun! Then we started talking and thought to ourselves that we can totally teach that and I hate to brag, but we might actually be better at it! Lately, I have been seeing a lot of articles on the benefits of Zumba. Zumba is an awesome workout for mommies who are trying to lose weight. Let me tell you why; after I had Daniela I lost all the weight, but somewhere in the first year, I gained back all that I had lost…plus more! I was hitting the scale at 160 (I’m 5”2). After I became certified and started teaching classes and watched what I ate, I lost weight! 20 pounds to be exact! I weigh less now than what I weighed before having Daniela! I play with 3 or 4 pounds here and there but that’s it and that’s okay because if you ever sit down and eat with me, you’ll understand where those 3 or 4 pounds come from.
I teach 3 classes a week and I’ve met incredible people who come up to me and thank ME for their weight loss! I had a lady who lost 50 pounds doing Zumba and running (two of my loves)! AWESOME!! Another has lost more than 30 pounds doing Zumba and watching her diet! I feel humble but I didn’t do that, they did! They took it upon themselves and decided they were going to lose the weight! How much of your time does it take? No more than an hour! We all need that time to ourselves, to take care of ourselves. You don’t need to be a dancer or know how to dance, you just have to move and have the will to want to lose the weight! Try it!
