Cooking Birthday Party Theme

April 5, 2012

I’m still trying to fill you in on what we did last weekend! On Saturday evening, we were invited to a birthday party at Taste Buds! Nicolas turned five and is one of Diego’s best buddies. Our friends live in the city and yet we have managed to get the boys together pretty often. I thought it was really great when I heard that Nicolas insisted on having a cooking party. His parents told me that they couldn’t find a place to host such an idea so they tried to persuade him to have another theme, maybe soccer again? But no, cooking it was and in New York City, of course you can find “the first and only kitchen in Manhattan” that hosts hands-on birthday parties for kids of all ages. What surprised me the most was that there were 19 kids there, mostly BOYS (!), and they sat, decorated aprons, made pizzas from scratch, decorated cupcakes while the pizzas baked and ate so nicely!! How impressive…and brave of the parents to plan such an event. The kitchen was stunning, state of the art and a dream come true for any culinary student! I wished I still lived in the city just so I can take the boys here for some classes because they love to cook. Here are some pictures!

Diego making whole-wheat pizza dough. Yes, he doesn’t like pizza (never tried it) but was SO EXCITED to make it! Go figure!

Rolling the dough. He’s thinking, “Santi will eat this!”

Bravo! Margherita pizza is done!

With Nicolas. Such a sweet, sweet boy!

The gift/favor bags were awesome. Diego had the chef’s hat and apron on and went home with another set plus a mini rolling pin and recipe cards! Perfect for pretend play with his brother or a friend!

I love organized, fun and unique birthday party ideas. It’s great to see the kids having fun and learning something new. Diego was so proud of himself and was so happy that Santi and I ate his pizza. He brought home the decorated cupcake and insisted that we all try it. We could tell that Nicolas had an awesome and memorable time with his friends as well!

Your friend,
Betty

P.s. Oh and it’s Good Friday tomorrow! I’ll be taking the day off from writing because Diego and Jose will be home! Have a happy EASTER everyone!!! See you back here on Monday! πŸ˜‰
