First Birthday and Smash Cake Photos

Jordi2

Mama loves to throw parties, but with Jordi’s recent baptism, my trip to Chicago and Jose’s trip to Kansas City, there was no time left for a first birthday bash. I had mother’s guilt, “No first birthday party?!?!” Luckily, I found a great local photographer about a month before Jordi’s big day. She suggested we do smash cake photos. I did a little research and decided that would be fun!!! I’m so happy with the results. Thank you to Tatyana at Pine Terrace Photography for everything! Here are a few photos…

Dollar-General

It was so nice to get a price break for Jordi’s Huggies at Dollar General yesterday! My baby is still sleeping ten to twelve hours at night and I needed a diaper that would hold twelve hours of moisture. I was so pleased this morning (and not much can make me happy at 6:00 a.m.) with the Huggies SureFit diaper because it worked great for Jordi!

I was impressed at how flexible the Huggies SureFit diaper is. I loved that it wan’t very bulky and that the outside was softer than other brands. The best part was that there was no leak this morning! I’m lucky to have a Dollar General near me so I can continue to pick up Huggies for Jordi!

Buying baby’s diapers and wipes add up! It’s important to save money anywhere we can. Visit your local Dollar General for the newest line of Huggies Snug & Dry diapers with SureFit design and save (take this coupon too)! Cutest App

lia

My comadre just sent me this adorable picture of my goddaughter! Lia lost another tooth and her smart mami was there to catch the tooth fairy in action!!

My boys have not lost any teeth (two boys are still teething!), but I had to try the Tooth Fairy Was Here app with this picture Jose took of Santi over the weekend. The app is free and easy to use. Diego has been anxious about losing his teeth because a few of his friends have had visits from the Fairy too. I’ll be ready to catch her when the time comes!

So cute!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Jordi!

jordicake

I can’t believe Baby Jordi is one today! He has turned our world upside down (totally in a good way, of course)! It’s busier, crazier and much louder around here! We wouldn’t have it any other way. Jordi is a happy boy, ready to defend himself from his big brothers and very loving. Diego and Santi think his wet kisses are gross but I think they are the sweetest.

We will be cutting a very small cake for Jordi today and he will be taking “smash cake” pictures this weekend! I didn’t do this for the older boys so we are all very excited to make this happen. Here are a few finds around the internet that I think are adorable.

Stress Free Kids

suenosdeloceanoindigo

Hi! My name is Betty and I’m a very stressed-out person. My shoulders are always tight, my jaw is often clenched and I have to constantly stretch my neck. I know my boys can feel my negative energy when I have pushed my limits. I fear that they will grow up to have too much stress in their lives too. Already, Diego can lead a very busy schedule, leaving very little time for down time and relaxing moments.

I know that children shouldn’t live with stress and I try my hardest to give my boys a happy and comfortable environment in our home. When I played Sueños del Oceano Indigo, a collection of audio short-stories in Spanish for my boys for the first time, I knew I could do more and this was a great start.

After a very crazy morning last week, [Read more...]

Happy Birthday William Shakespeare!

littlemastersshakespeare

In honor of William Shakespeare’s birthday today, we are reading Romeo & Juliet: A BabyLit Counting Primer. I LOVE this cute book. It is perfect for my little boys and it is so simple that I can point to numbers and objects and translate it all to Spanish.

Get your little ones started early with the classics! You can check out more Baby Lit titles here.

P.s. Guess how old Shakespeare would have been today? 449 years old!!!

For the Lovers of Languages

krong

We just bought Krong by Garry Parsons at our school’s book fair! Of course it’s a huge thumbs up from me. This adorable book introduces kids to different languages (knot in my throat as I read the Japanese to Diego). The pictures are bright and along with the narration, the characters have conversation bubbles over their heads-always a hit with Diego! The best part? Spanish is included as well!

4-Krong!-Spread

There’s a little mystery in the short plot and the gift given at the end of the story helps our little protagonist crack the “code”. Diego read the book before me but insisted I read it aloud to him. This one will be in and out of our bookshelf for a long time to come. Perfect for all ages.

Do you know of other picture books that introduce kids to different languages? Please share!

Spanish Easter Activity

easterproject1

It’s Semana Santa and we did this simple Easter project to build Spanish vocabulary, spelling and conversation. Thanks to Mommy Maestra and SpanglishBaby for providing free printables! I also printed free Easter images from First Palette and created this for the boys.

easterproject2

Diego did the Mommy Maestra’s Palabras plurales first and we read the SpanglishBaby vocab and coloring sheet to Santi.

eaterproject3

Diego used the vocabulary words to identify the images I glued down. I made sure to scatter them around and repeat some of the images so he can write the vocab words over and over.

easterproject4

An activity for all ages! Diego and I helped review colors in Spanish for Santi. We spoke Spanish for over thirty minutes!

easterproject6

easterproject7

Eventually, Diego stopped looking at the worksheets to write the Spanish words!!

easterproject9

Diego waiting patiently for el color rojo!

You can do these types of Spanish vocabulary projects with any theme! I think I’ll do a Spring one next!

Have a fantastic Easter weekend!!!

Three Easter Baskets

easter baskets

Remember last year? I was pregnant but decided to buy an extra basket for the baby. I knew I would want the boys to all have the same one this year! I spent a little extra at Target for these just to be able to re-use them and I’m glad I did! They are sturdy, easy to store and just the right size.

Anywho, the boys are getting toothbrushes again, snacks that we always keep around the house, a book, and a hollow chocolate bunny. I don’t go crazy with the candy (none for Jordi). I think a chocolate bunny is important and a few M&Ms are definitely okay! The new items this year: 2 games for Diego, puzzles for Santi, and a shape sorter for Jordi. I also included coloring books and bubbles! Oh and chupones for the little ones. Hey, they are not cheap and if they want them… jajaja!

The books:
Just last week, Diego expressed an interest in Three Tales of My Father’s Dragon. I hope he’s surprised!

For Santi: Eric Carle’s ABC

For Jordi: Baby Touch and Feel: Cuddly Animals

Are you almost done with your baskets? What are some other good ideas for filling?
