This will be Jordi in a few months (but a boy and I will be yelling to Jose, not Trey).
Hi there! This is my 100th post on My Friend Betty Says…! I consider this a personal achievement as I told myself six months ago that I was really going to sit down and do this. I have enjoyed the process and the practice. I have been reading a lot more and have been very mindful of the literature my children are reading as well. Overall, I am just so glad to make a little contribution to other parents, to other teachers and to bring a little smile and inspiration to everyone else.
My first full month (March 1-31) as an official blogger (hee hee) I had 348 visits. I’m sure this was a handful of friends in Illinois checking in to my persistent and private emails to read my latest post. Last month, I had 950 visits and I hope to break over a thousand this month! So exciting. I am also now on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter sharing my work and letting distant acquaintances and even strangers know what Betty has to say. Although I still cringe once in a while when I press that “publish” button on my dashboard on WordPress, it is always rewarding. But, “Eek! Will anyone read this? Will they like it??!” always crosses my mind.
But it has been so good! I have found that even the most unexpected guests will comment on a post and that distant family members can find you while using Google to prepare for a children’s literature class (Hi Cristina!). I am also pleased to continue receiving private emails or phone calls for advice in parenting or classroom work. It is always a pleasure to help and the absolute best is figuring things out together with you.
It’s amazing for me to see where all you readers are. Here is a list of the top 10 countries my blog has been visited from the most:
1) United States
2) United Kingdom
Thank you to my friends here at home and abroad for reading and supporting. And thank you to NEW readers. Just today, I had readers from Denmark, Egypt and India. I am amazed at how we can all be connected and how we share similar stories.
My most commented posts are displayed here on the upper right hand side but I wonder what has been your favorite post? What would you like to read more about? Would love to hear!
